Hi Blog fam
It’s been a while I’ve posted something on here but today seems like a good day to post. I took an unplanned break from writing on here primarily because it had started to feel like a chore and so my writing felt forced (at least to me) so I wanted to re-evaluate my vision and goals for the blog. I have also been super busy with work and personal/professional development activities so I had to let the blog take a back seat. I redirected my energy to Instagram and became more active on there. Next stop, LinkedIn.
So what have I been up to? A lot!
- Working and spending a lot of hours (as expected) on my day job
- Recording videos for NaijatoAmerica. Check us out! I’m currently building out our Mentor & Mentee community so please reach out if you would like to be a part of it
- Education consulting for clients at GetIn Education Consulting. I was also featured on their Scholar Spotlight. Yay mee
- Posting on Instagram instead of on here (it’s easier, don’t judge me)
- Taking multiple online classes
- Getting published on BellaNaija!!! Let’s take a minute to celebrate that *runs around room dancing in circles*
- And more …
It’s been a goal for a while to publish articles on BN so I’m not sure why it took me almost 5 years but I’m glad I finally did it anyway. I decided to start publishing my articles on other platforms so this is the first of many to come. You can expect to see my name as an author on some of your favorite blogs soon 😊. I do miss writing and sharing on here and I have several articles I’m working on that I cannot wait to share in July.
So why was I gone?
Part of the problem is I had targeted a standard for myself that I struggled to maintain and got burnt out after a short while. I decided to focus squarely on the writing which is what I really enjoy, and then work my way up from there. In my time off, I also had some time to think and realized I set unrealistic and unsustainable goals because I was trying to make up for lost time, rather than just taking things slow and enjoying the process. After all, what’s the rush for? In a nutshell, I’ve been trying to answer my own questions and so far so good. I have developed more confidence in owning and sharing my truth so I will do more.
I also cannot believe that the first half of the year is gone!! I wish time would slow down or else we’ll blink twice, and it’s 2020. It’s a good time to reflect on achievements so far and plan for the next half of the year.
So what do we do at mid-year?
Personally, I take out a pen, paper, planner and my list of goals for the year, and take stock. Throughout this week, I will be evaluating, striking things off, adding new things and strategizing for how to make the best of the next 6 months. Goals-wise, I haven’t hit all my goals, but I’d say I’m doing pretty well. I accomplished some, am making progress on some and haven’t even touched some but it’s fine.
In other news, July heralds the second half of the year but it also means my birthday is around the corner *shrieks in glee*. I’m always happy to celebrate my birthday because it means I have been blessed with another year on this earth to share my light with others. Save the date for the 26th. I’m accepting monetary and physical gifts so feel free to message for my address for home delivery 😊.
This post is just a check-in so thank you for reading. I fully appreciate all of you who consistently support and believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself. I plan to maintain the momentum and will not let you down. With that being said, how are your Q2 goals looking? Are you satisfied with your progress in 2019 so far or do you think that there is more work to be done? What do you have planned for the other half of the year? I’d love to hear from you.
Happy July 😀
